Christmas Music Playlists with South Park Songs

For Those Who Like Their Toilet Humour Over The Holidays

When you discover that the hero of the 1999 Christmas album released by the makers of TV animated series South Park is none other than a poo named Mr Hankey you get some idea of the themes that run through (!) each of its 18 festive stenched numbers. For those who haven’t yet seen South Park much of the jokes, in-jokes and general japery may be lost in a sea of lurid depravity but the very fact that most so-called funny Christmas albums are not in the least bit rib tickling it makes for a nice change that ‘Mr Hankey’s Christmas Classics’ does have some genuinely funny moments. The album’s single ‘Mr Hankey The Christmas Poo’ is perhaps the best summation of the album’s inner comfort and joy. Lines such as ‘A present from down below, spreading joy with a Howdy Ho! He's seen the love inside of you, 'coz he's a piece of poo!’ are squeezed out an alarming rate.

With a parental-advisory-explicit-content sticker applied to each of the CD’s carrying this album it should come as no surprise that there is plenty of material on ‘Mr Hankey’s Christmas Classics’ that could upset. And ‘Merry F**king Christmas’ is perhaps the worst offender as it takes potshots at most non-Christian religions who have the temerity to not celebrate the season. On ‘O Holy Night’ the only offensive thing on show is character Eric Cartman’s haphazard memory for its lyrics, his improvisations are a scream mind you. And on it goes with Adoft Hitler singing ‘O Tannenbaum’, Chef smoothly dispatching ‘What The Hell Child Is This?’ and Mr Hankey/Stan/Kyle/Cartman joining forces on the closing track for an altogether unique rendition of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’. Which all goes to prove that although it’s about a poo ‘Mr Hankey’s Christmas Classic’ is no turd.
