Christmas Music For Both Upstairs and Downstairs

Downton Abbey is one of the most successful TV period dramas to emerge in the last few years and its reach is due to extend to the season of goodwill this year with the upcoming release of 'Christmas At Downton Abbey'. Spread over 2 CD's this lavish production features such the world famous Choir Of Kings College from Cambridge singing old time classics such as 'God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen', 'Once In Royal David’s City' and 'Ding Dong! Merrily On High'. There are also several performances from the cast on the bountiful 45 tracks. For instance Elizabeth McGovern, who plays the Countess of Grantham, has recorded a version of 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear'. Jim Carter who plays head servant Mr Carter also gets involved with his spoken word version of 'T’was The Night Before Christmas'. One other treat to look forward to is the seasonal rendition of the Downton Abbey theme, a sweeping instrumental that will undoubtedly prove a highlight. Though the album does not come out until Friday November 7th it is available for pre-order straight away.
