The cause may have changed from hunger to disease but 30 years on from its original release date in 1984 Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' is still extending Africa a helping hand. The 2014 incarnation (marking the 4th time it has been recorded) still has the original songwriting team of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure at the helm but the personnel involved on this new version will be completely contemporary (aside from Bono from U2 who is involved again). In battle to eradicate Ebola all profits from the new recording will go directly to the humanitarian and medical efforts in west Africa. On this iteration of the Christmas anthem 30 musicians will make up the Band Aid cast with One Direction, Chris Martin (of Coldplay) and Ed Sheeran being amongst the most well-known participants. 'Do They Know It's Christmas' will be available to download from online stores by early next week.
