When we dust ourselves down (not real dust, just fluffy snow so fine it appears like dust) after the big day on December 25th we like to take a miniature break from all things festive. It’s a different genre of music for each of us (indie, reggae, Walter Brennan) but one thing we all agree on is how much we were all immediately wowed by the music of Scottish singer Laurie Cameron (so much so that she has become resident on 4 of our playlists). The seed for this union of admiration is all thanks to Cameron’s wonderfully delicate Christmas song ‘Merry Christmas from Scotland (Lulled With a Stiff Drink)’ which while released in 2012 is appearing again this year as a gratis download from her bandcamp page. Everyone knows the best things in life are free and here is just another shining example. The glass of malt is optional but goosebumps are entirely inevitable.
