Each year the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) publish the results of its findings on the most played Christmas songs on US radio. This year Leroy Anderson’s ‘Sleigh Ride’ was knocked off the number one spot by another classic ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’ which was written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne. The top 10 most played festive tracks contains the usual suspects such as ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’, ‘It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ and ‘Frosty The Snowman’ but what is most interesting is whose rendition has been named the most popular. For example who'd have thought that Bruce Springsteen’s, admittedly electrifying, ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ would be the nation’s favourite version or that Jimmy Durante would hold the title of most played ‘Frosty The Snowman’?
