There’s no getting away from it, the best Christmases are those from our youth and by default the songs we hear for the first time back then stay with us forever. So although we at yuleplay have long since said goodbye to our teenage years we felt compelled to compile a list of Christmas songs for teenagers. And leading the charge is the heartthrob of the moment Justin Bieber who laid down a Christmas track called ‘Mistletoe’ in 2011 which sent a million young hearts a flutter. Katy Perry is used to providing fireworks throughout the year but she decided to slow the tempo considerably for her reworking of Bing’s most famous song ‘White Christmas’. Perry recorded the stripped back affair for a 2008 compilation called ‘The Hotel Café presents...Winter Songs’ and showed a different side to her normal effervescent self. Another teenage hero Beyonce also threw out the sparkle and pizazz for her version of ‘Silent Night’ which was as quiet as a mouse while still leaving enough to illustrate her remarkable vibrato. For something a little more energetic you can always rely on boyband the Backstreet Boys and on ‘It's Christmas Time Again’ they went for the pop jugular. This is as uplifting as Christmas music gets for grown-ups not to mention teenagers which amounts to another (turkey) feather in the cap of the much loved band.
